‘Ask Ovie’ is a brand-new Amazon Original podcast hosted by Love Island star Ovie Soko. Episodes will drop twice weekly, every Monday and Friday, and are available exclusively on Amazon Music.
In 2019, Ovie stole the hearts of the nation and became a firm fan favourite during his time on Love Island. The professional basketball player was a calm confidante to his fellow Islanders offering pearls of wisdom in moments of need, and a daily source of entertainment for his fellow housemate and the nation alike. Since leaving the island, Ovie has been on a mission to help people feel better about themselves, with the release of his debut book, You Are Dope, in 2020. Now returning with his sage advice and positive mental attitude, Ovie has solidified his position as Gen Z’s agony uncle with his new podcast, which will see him offer advice on problems shared by listeners. In his own words, Ovie continues to be an unexpected source for offering guidance, advice and inspiration on how his fans can become the “dopest” they can be.
The new twice weekly short form podcast will see Ovie tackling his listeners problems head on, from friend zones to infidelity, and mental health to cancel culture. The podcast invites listeners to submit voice notes describing their current conundrum, with Ovie playing out the messaging and offering his advice in the new 15-minute show. During the series Ovie will be joined by a host of well-known names including the likes of Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stephens; +44 podcast host and comedian Sideman, and singer and model Fleur East.
Ovie Soko, said:
“I’ve always enjoyed interacting with my online community, and stumbled into an “agony uncle” role in a pretty funny but organic way, where I would give my opinions on situations that my supporters would share with me on Instagram. So, I’m extremely excited to be partnering with Amazon Music to launch the Ask Ovie podcast. I want to give the listeners, who really are the stars of the show, a chance to share their problems, to listen to other people’s dilemmas and help them feel heard. I think we all go through more similar dilemmas than we realise a lot of the time. Along with some familiar voices, we will be discussing everything from mental health, dating, diversity, as well as anything the listeners throw at me. It’s a safe space that I think will be an easy and funny listen but at the same time organically thought-provoking.”
Listeners are invited to submit their own voice note via www.askovie.com for the chance to have Ovie answer their dilemma in a future episode.
Amazon Music listeners can find ‘Ask Ovie’ by saying ‘Alexa play the Ask Ovie podcast’ in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. ‘Ask Ovie’ is the latest Amazon Original podcast from Amazon Music, following the launch of the ‘+44 Podcast’ hosted by Zeze Millz and Sideman and ‘Three Little Words’ with John Bishop and Tony Pitts.
